Together for a sustainable transition

The member companies of No Dig Alliance install and renovate underground pipelines without digging. The methods used by the group are resource-efficient and have minimal impact on the environment, our customers, and society.

By combining our members’ resources, we aim to be an alternative to traditional excavation methods used in underground pipework. With the collective strength of the alliance, we can address tasks in a gentle way that were previously impossible or had a negative environmental impact. The result is projects that reduce emissions and costs, protect biodiversity, and improve living environments.

The challenges related to energy and water and sewage are increasing, and so is the need for sustainable and efficient methods in pipeline work. We face a major task ahead to achieve sustainable development in these matters, but we are confident that, thanks to the alliance’s techniques and expertise, we are already sitting on many of the answers.

Smarter pipeline work

No Dig, or trenchless methods, is a collective term for the installation and renewal of pipelines for water, sewage, district heating, electricity, and other media through techniques that eliminate or minimize the need for digging. Trenchless techniques are almost always the smarter choice on many levels. In addition to saving time and money, it is also a sustainable alternative that minimizes disruptions to the local community, ecology, and traffic. Carbon emissions are up to 90 percent lower with trenchless techniques compared to digging a new pipeline.

Towards net zero emissions by 2045

With collective forces and guidelines, we are determined to be a driving force in our industry's transition to meet climate goals for net-zero emissions by 2045. Today, only about ten percent of all pipeline work is done using trenchless techniques, while 90 percent is done conventionally. We believe those numbers can be reversed. Through innovation, expertise, and proactivity, our alliance companies help their customers reduce their scope 3 emissions and prepare for a more sustainable future.
